Case Study - sendU Application (MapleBank)
-
The Scoop
Maplebank is a neobank (online only) looking to attract a new customer market. They want to introduce a new product to attract new customers that included clear onboarding for a simple feature that is currently not being offered by the bank
-
The Problem
We wanted to address 3 main needs of users who made international funds transfers often:
Trustworthy & secure all in one solution to transfer funds internationally for personal needs
Transparency of rates and fees in advance
Reliable product that provided clarity on when funds would be delivered to the recipient
-
The Target
The target audience are individuals who transfer funds internationally frequently or those who live in a foreign country and need access to funds in foreign currency from their domestic bank.
Roles & Process
I worked with my team on this passion product design where I took lead of the analysis of data derived from user interviews and user tests. I created the brand logo for the sendU app, put together the persona and conveyed modifications required for the different iterations of the prototype based on user tests.
User Interviews, Journey Maps & Personas
We conducted user interviews, analyzed the answers and got to work building empathy maps and a journey map which I later developed a persona from
Storyboard
While working on our journey map, I also put together a storyboard to illustrate the user's current experience when they want to transfer foreign currency internationally
Wireframe Sketches
My teamates worked on wireframe sketches before our initial take on the prototype design
Constraints
Time was a big constraint on this project as well as working with my other team mates remotely. Oftentimes, we ran into some "feature creep" and had to refocus and realign early on.
What were the results, and what did we learn?
During the entire process, from interviews to wireframing, group discussions and user tests, we've learned that there are many individuals who can relate to this problem and want this solution:
Ability to transfer funds internationally via their bank account.
I've shared the prototype with people within my network and many commented similarly "if only this was a real app." or "if only this was feasible!"
Perhaps we can turn this passion project into a real app one day!
